Should
Your Cat Wear A Collar?
Not
everyone wants to force their cat to wear a collar, but many
owners do. It's not that these collars are ugly or even uncomfortable
for their pet, I think it's more that people tend to think
of cats as living with us as opposed to them being our pet.
I
looked around at various cat collars - they come in all sorts
of colors and sizes - but for some reason, I can not find
what I am looking for. I was hoping to find a yellow collar
for my cat, Twinkle, but no matter where I looked I could
not find one of that color.
Of
course, I found just about every other color under the sun,
but apparently, yellow was just a popular choice.
While
shopping around, I found all kinds of things imaginable for
cats out there. I found a collar that repels fleas (not very
pretty, but if you have a cat that goes outside, or if your
cat lives with a dog that goes outside, this might be a good
idea).
My
neighbor told me her cat has been wearing the same flea collar
for three years and has never gotten a flea. Interesting!
All the flea collar boxes I read stated they were good for
about 3 months.
Anyway,
I wasn't looking for a flea collar for my cat. There are newer
treatments out there today for problems with fleas that are
much more effective and do not require the cat collar.
If you are looking for a regular cat collar, but you can’t
find what you want (as I couldn't), you might find a good
one online. Granted, I could only find a yellow one online
in a pack of six - but at least I know they actually exist.
You
most likely aren't looking for a yellow cat collar, and just
about anything else you are looking for is going to be out
there and easy to find. The ‘in’ colors will always be prevalent
of course, but you can find just about every other color you
could want.
You
may also find that a specialty cat collar is more to your
liking, if you are looking for something a little different.
You may find things that you never imagined existed while
exploring online. You can get a cat collar with the name of
your cat imprinted on it, and if you really have money to
burn, you can find one that is speckled with real diamonds
and other precious stones.
If
you want that look but don’t have the money, don’t worry.
You can find a cat collar that has fake diamonds, that will
have your neighborhood cat-nappers drooling with admiration.
Maybe that's not such a good idea!
